Happy February! We got a lot done in this short week. This week students worked on finishing the rough drafts of their informational writing pieces in writing. In reading students worked on using text structures to understand text, they also practiced summarizing non-fiction texts. In math students are learning to find fractions of whole numbers by multiplying fractions by whole numbers ( 1/2 of 24 and 3/4 X 18) this was covered in lessons 5-8 of module 4. In social studies students are setting up the scene for our study on the American Revolution. Our class earned a whole class reward by showing expected behavior! We only have two weeks until mid-winter break! In this time we will be finishing our unit of study on non-fiction, publishing informational texts and preparing for the mid-module math assessment that we will take on February 12th. We will be having a class valentines party on February 14th in the afternoon if your child would like to bring valentines they may but they must have one for everyone in the class, there are 24 students in the class. The Global reading challenge competition will be taking place on Monday February 4th at 1:15pm in the Multi-purpose room. -Miss Machin
